From an inability to handle the "40% sarkara" debasement allegations and permitting an enemy of Lingayat discernment to develop to a weighty reliance on PM Modi for its mission, a few failures to discharge seem to have prompted BJP's unfortunate show in the races.
The Congress' "PayCM" campaign, which highlighted the 40% commission charge leveled against its government by the contractors association, provided the first indications that the BJP was losing its footing. The BJP chose to go on the offensive, portraying the allegation as politically motivated and attempting to shoot the messenger by questioning the integrity of the old party, rather than coming up with ways to address the allegations and projecting a proactive stance. This ultimately did not go over well with the public.
